Inspection of photovoltaic installation – overview
This time, our team of two electricians went to perform an inspection of a photovoltaic installation located on the ground at one of the production plants near Warsaw.
The installation, which includes a HUAWEI SUN2000 40KTL-M3 three-phase inverter, JinKo 450W panels and a ground structure. The men of the team at the site of the order appeared just before 9 am. Entering outside the gate, safety training to authorize entry to the site and a few minutes after 10, electricians began inspecting the installation.
First, of course, is the visual inspection, that is, the visual inspection of the condition of the installation. The men painstakingly ticked off point after point in the report, evaluating and recording comments. Construction without comments, photovoltaic panels undamaged but in need of cleaning, inverter, was cleaned with compressed air. On the other hand, the gentlemen noticed that the security box is not tightly sealed, as it is missing the front glass – the “peephole” that should originally be placed there. The noted deficiency was included in the report with a note that it should be completed.
The men then proceeded to the measurement part. They checked voltages, resistance and even cable cross sections. As a result of the inspection, no irregularities were found during the measurements. Therefore, after less than 4 hours, the team finished its work and was able to return to base.
Upon their return, the gentlemen prepared a full report with a summary describing the elements that needed improvement. For this photovoltaic installation, the things to improve were replacing the protection box and washing the entire installation.
According to the guidelines, regular inspections of electrical installations should be carried out, at least once every 5 years.
In our opinion, the frequency should be higher. The optimal solution is to review once a year. According to the old adage: “Prevention is better than cure.”
