We were commissioned to provide solar panel cleaning services in the heart of Silesia – Katowice, Poland. Katowice city has been associated with industry for centuries, first with forging and then from the 19th century with mining and heavy industry. And it is mainly because of heavy industry: Silesia cleaning photovoltaic installation that we should combine inextricably.
Each of us probably associates what huge industrial chimneys look like, with huge clouds of smoke coming out of them. The 300 kWp photovoltaic installation mounted on the roof of one of the production facilities is located in such a neighborhood. Astronergy’s 330W modules cover almost the entire roof slope. The installation was built about 2 years ago and no one has ever washed it. That’s why our team had one goal: Silesian installation cleaning!
Smoke from the chimney – Silesia installation cleaning
Smoke from the chimney contains particulate matter that is carried away with the gas. Therefore, these particulates can move to later settle on various surfaces.
Together with the team, we drove first thing in the morning to Katowice. As we have a very good connection to the capital of Silesia, after 45 minutes we were there.
Washing modules on the roof
After obtaining a pass, confirming that the order was being carried out on the premises, we drove up to the building on whose roof the installation is located. Due to the fact that it is a rooftop installation, we needed to get to the roof. To climb it we used an external ladder and left the machine on the ground. And due to the inability to bring the equipment upstairs, one of our guys stayed downstairs to be able to rearrange the equipment. The rest of the team, that is, 2 operators went up on the roof and got busy cleaning the modules. As a result, the work went smoothly and dynamically. As a result of their close proximity to smoky chimneys, the panels were covered with a sticky layer to which all kinds of dust and dust easily adhered.
8 hours and done
Due to the fact that the entire installation was mounted on the roof and therefore on a level surface, we could easily move around it. Therefore, we finished the work in 8 hours and after packing the equipment into the car, our team returned to the base.
