Dirty photovoltaic installation, or what we are unknowingly losing out on! Częstochowa
Czestochowa, a city in the Silesian province, located in the Krakow-Czestochowa Jurassic District. It is one of the most important religious centers in the country and is known mainly for its iconic shrine, Jasna Gora.
Dirt and debris on photovoltaic panels can significantly affect their efficiency and the performance of the entire photovoltaic system. Therefore, it is necessary that we regularly monitor and maintain the cleanliness of photovoltaic panels. Mainly to ensure that they can perform optimally and are efficient. Particularly in areas with high levels of atmospheric or natural pollution, panel cleaning should be part of the routine maintenance of the photovoltaic system.
Dirty installation – disadvantages:
- Decrease in productivity. A layer of dirt, dust, leaves or other debris on photovoltaic panels can reduce their ability to convert solar energy into electricity. This, in turn, leads to a decline in productivity and energy production.
- Reduced payback time. Photovoltaic installations are long-term investments, and dirt can reduce their efficiency, which means it may take longer to pay back the investment than initially expected.
- Environmental impact. Dirt on photovoltaic panels can affect the environment by reducing the amount of energy produced from a renewable source, which may require greater use of other, more polluting energy sources.
- Potential damage. Dirt and debris can cause damage to photovoltaic panels, such as corrosion or permanent staining, which may require costly repairs or panel replacement.
Module Cleaning – Częstochowa.
This time we had a 10 kWp photovoltaic installation to clean. Mounted on an almost flat roof, for three years and never cleaned.
Upon entering the roof, we saw modules covered with a thick layer of dust, on which there were numerous bird droppings. Although there were not many panels, only 17 pieces, it took us close to hours to clean these panels. Dirt clung so tightly to the surface of the modules that we had to pre-wash them before we stripped them of dirt. Only later wash at the ready.
However, our team has not dealt with such dirt before, and as a result, and with such a dirty installation they coped well.
Remember: A clean installation is not just about looks! It’s also taking care of the life and performance of the modules!
