Cleaning of smaller photovoltaic installations

Are you far from Częstochowa? This is not a problem! We provide cleaning services for photovoltaic panels and photovoltaic farms all over Poland!

Before we begin…

The need for washing and cleaning of photovoltaic panels can be demonstrated by testing photovoltaic installation performance. It usually increases from 8 to 25% after a well-executed photovoltaic panel cleaning service. The lack of loss in generated energy often more than amortizes the cost of cleaning photovoltaic panels. Studies show that among the 3 aspects that have the greatest impact on the performance of photovoltaic installations is just the dirtiness of the panels (in addition to the degree of tilt and the operation of the inverter and the quality of the connection to the grid)

Types of dirt on photovoltaic panels

  • pollen and leaves
  • bird droppings
  • mosses, algae, algae and lichens
  • other organic waste
  • smog precipitation
  • sand and inorganic pollen
  • various other precipitation pollutants

How often to wash the panels?

Usually, the recommended frequency of cleaning and cleaning of photovoltaic installations is PV panel cleaning services twice a year!

Cleaning effectiveness tests

In 2018, one of the largest scientific studies on cleaning and cleaning of ground-mounted photovoltaic installations and panels was conducted in Germany to find out what effect professional photovoltaic cleaning has on the performance of photovoltaic panels.

During the study, 17 different photovoltaic installations were partially cleaned and washed using demineralized water. Yields from clean surfaces were then compared over a six-month period with yields from the uncleaned portions of the photovoltaic installations involved in the study. The conclusions after 6 and 12 months of study were quite obvious!

The 3 factors that most influenced the EFFICIENCY of the photovoltaic panels were the degree of tilt of the modules, the STAGE of the dirt, as well as the operation of the inverter and the quality of the grid connection of the photovoltaic system itself.

  • It is best to wash photovoltaic panels in early spring to free them from dirt accumulated in autumn and winter and prepare for the sunny months of spring and summer, and then, clean photovoltaic panels a second time around August or September to make the most effective use of the sun during the last sunny, warm months.
  • In some cases, due to the location and orientation of the photovoltaic panel installation or to meet special requirements of the manufacturer’s warranty, it is recommended to leave shorter cleaning intervals for photovoltaic panels!
  • We use special low-pressure equipment to wash photovoltaic panels, using osmotic processes to produce demineralized water. We avoid high-pressure devices that can scratch the tempered glass protecting the photovoltaic panels.
  • In case of heavy soiling, eco-spray or steam equipment can be used, especially for cleaning the frames of photovoltaic panels!
  • Lighthief’s panel cleaning and photovoltaic installation services are secured by appropriate third-party liability contracts with insurers. Insurance covers not only accidental damage to photovoltaic panels but also yield losses generated because of it.

We do not recommend self-cleaning of installations located on the roofs of buildings and in hard-to-reach places. Then it is better to contact Us and order the service of cleaning photovoltaic panels.

Cleaning smaller PV plants is just as demanding as cleaning entire farms, the cleaning technique is the same, the difference is in the equipment used. For cleaning smaller photovoltaic installations, we use innovative equipment from companies such as Mansser Osmo, cleaning arms from the leading German company SunBrush, or robots that wash photovoltaic panels from companies such as SolarCleano and SerbotPV. Our knowledge and practice, gained in Poland and Europe, result in professional services and an expert approach.
