Expedition to the Masuria region – cleaning farms among the lakes

Warmia and Masuria– a region in Poland also known as the Land of a Thousand Lakes, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. There are two of the largest of Polish lakes, namely Śniardwy and Mamry. Near the provincial capital Olsztyn, recently built photovoltaic power plants are located in a picturesque landscape.

Although this is not yet a standard practice in Poland, in this particular case the farm owner had us wash the photovoltaic panels at his facility.

Washing the photovoltaic system at the beginning of its operation:

Although it might seem that such a procedure is unnecessary, the opposite is true.

First of all, photovoltaic modules have to travel a long way before they reach the farm. Starting with the factory where they are manufactured, the means of transport by which they are brought to their destination and the structure to which they are attached. The panels are covered with a special coating, in addition, after they are placed on the tables, work on the plant site continues. Land leveling, vehicle passes and such work generate dust pollution. Anyway, anyone can imagine how dusty the fields are. It is also very common for mowing to be performed on the site before the final commissioning of the power plant.

In view of all this, can one believe that photovoltaic panels will be/are still clean?

New photovoltaic farm:

We were at the site around 8 o’clock. Rested, full of enthusiasm, we efficiently laid out the equipment, according to the pre-established plan. This time there are rows of JinKo 600W panels in front of us, about 2,500 units. A plot of more than two hectares, it was impressive. The area was mowed so the work progressed at the pace set. However, despite careful preparation, it was not without an unplanned interruption. One of the devices we use to clean photovoltaic panels has broken down. Quick identification, analysis of the problem and on-site repair. We always carry spare parts on standby with us just in case. We service the equipment regularly so that we can anticipate certain events and be prepared for them.

After the repair, we returned to work. Cleaning the farm took us one day with a small chunk but this allowed the team, after finishing the first day’s work, to rest and relax before the next day.

Expedition to the Masuria region – cleaning farms among the lakes – SUMMARY:

Location: warmińsko-mazurskie province, Olsztyn area

PV data: Photovoltaic farm with a capacity of approximately 1.5 MW consisting of 600W JinKo photovoltaic modules.

Description: photovoltaic modules fouled mainly with raids from fields, dust, sand and grass
