Building Photovoltaic Farms: From Design to Implementation

Building Photovoltaic Farms: From Design to Implementation

The design and construction of a photovoltaic farm is the process involved in creating and commissioning installations that convert solar energy into electricity. Below is a general and simplified diagram from design to construction.

Photovoltaic Farm Design

  1. Location. The first step is to choose a suitable location for the photovoltaic farm. The site should have good sunlight and meet the requirements for access to the power grid. Equally important is the class of land on which we intend to place the farm.
  2. Potential Analysis. That is, we conduct a solar potential analysis to determine how much energy can be produced in a given location. This helps in sizing and placement of panels.
  3. Projects. Based on the analysis, we develop technical documentation, which includes the layout of panels, inverters, wiring and other components necessary for energy production.
  4. Permits and Formalities. Then we need to obtain the relevant permits and fulfill all the legal formalities related to the construction and operation of the photovoltaic power plant. (including environmental decision, connection conditions)
Construction of Photovoltaic Farms

Building a Photovoltaic Farm

  1. Purchase and Delivery of Materials. After obtaining permits (including a PnB – or Construction Permit) and preparing the site, construction can begin. Beforehand, we need to carefully plan the order in which to do the work. At first, the order of components, namely inverters, panels, structures and trafo stations. Then cables, security, fencing, monitoring.
  2. Assembly. Photovoltaic panels are mounted on special structures, usually on the ground but there are also farms on the roof. It is important that the panels are properly aligned. But this is dealt with at the documentation stage.
  3. Inverters. The panels are then connected to inverters, which convert the direct current produced by the panels into alternating current that can be connected to the power grid.
  4. Testing and Monitoring. Once the photovoltaic power plant is completed, tests are carried out to make sure the entire system works properly. The system is also monitored to ensure its continued performance.
  5. Exploitation. We operate photovoltaic farms for many years. Regular maintenance and upkeep are necessary to ensure efficient operation and long plant life.

The design and construction of photovoltaic farms is a complex process that requires the cooperation of many specialists, including engineers, designers, environmentalists and lawyers. But the result is a source of clean and sustainable energy, which contributes to environmental protection and savings on electricity costs.
