Cleaning of photovoltaic panels – Solar power plant near Wroclaw, Poland

Building a photovoltaic farm has been a very good business idea for some time. So when an investor decides to put up his own solar power plant, he must know that the facility must be properly cared for. This involves regular maintenance, inspection of the vegetation and also should systematically perform cleaning of the panels.

3 year old photovoltaic farm near Wroclaw, Poland

Not far from Wroclaw in the Lower Silesian province is a solar power plant built 3 years ago consisting of JinKo panels with a total capacity of a little over 700 kWp. More than a dozen rows of panels spread over an area of more than 1 hectare.

The modules have never been treated with panel cleaning since the farm’s inception. For this reason, significant dirt deposits have accumulated on the surface of the modules and at the frames. As such, dust, sand and bird droppings are a major cause of pollution. The owner of the power plant plans to conduct thermal imaging in the near future, so washing the panels is the basis for receiving a correct image when performing a thermal imaging survey.

How to wash the panels?

Our team showed up at the site around 8am. As with most such assignments, the men began by opening and laying out the work. We washed this farm using hand washers. The washers we use allow two operators to connect to each unit, and we use two washers. As a result, as many as 4 operators could get to work!

Manual cleaning of the panels ensures thorough washing at the glass-frame interface. In the case of this installation, this was particularly important. We removed all the dirt and after about 6 hours our team was able to pack up and return to base.
