Cleaning photovoltaic panels on the roof of Częstochowa University of Technology

The cleaning of photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Częstochowa University of Technology, specifically the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, is an annual addition to the results of joint research. The research these concern the effect of pollutants on the performance of the photovoltaic system and over the closed water cycle in the process of solar panel cleaning.

On the roof of the Department of Electrical Engineering, the University of Technology has deployed 2 installations of the same power. By being located in the same place, with the same power, and with the same conditions (the twin installations are next to each other) – one can directly say that the two research facilities are the same. Same, or identical – that is, optimally suitable for comparative studies. The first photovoltaic system is regularly cleaned, while the second is not cleaned at all.

This year, we also w cleaned one of the twin installations, thanks to favorable temperatures. When washing photovoltaic modules, our team uses equipment from Mansser Osmo. What’s more, the gentlemen of Mansser Osmo, use the results of the research, which continue to be collected and analyzed to improve and make modifications to their equipment.

The installations on the roof of the Polytechnic University are photovoltaic systems, which was built in 2014. The combined capacity of the two installations is 45 kWp. They consist of 200 photovoltaic modules and are among the first such installations installed at universities.

It took our team about three hours to clean 100 photovoltaic modules. The Polytechnic staff’s census of the two installations showed a difference in yield of 8%.
