Ostrołęka – a city in the northern part of the Mazovian province. Located about halfway between Warsaw and Bialystok. Once a provincial city, it is located on the Narew River, with agricultural land making up about 32% of the area. That’s why we got an order from the owner of a nearly 1 MW photovoltaic farm to wash photovoltaic modules at his power plant.
What to pay attention to when washing the panels?
Photovoltaic panel – external appearance: glass surface with metal frame. It is the cleaning of the glass-frame interface that requires meticulous care. Dust, dirt, field deposits linger at the framing and affect both the condition and performance of the panels.
In the case of this installation, the dirt mainly came from dust, sand, soil and post-harvest raids.
Commissioning of photovoltaic cleaning
Suitably prepared and secured with a water supply, we set out to carry out the order. We arrived at the power plant around 7 am. In the sky, clouds obscured the sun, the temperature was about 18 degrees and so the conditions were just perfect. Therefore, after the alarm was remotely disarmed, we were free to enter the area and set up equipment.
Our team was faced with 16 rows of Astronergy panels separated by a technical road through the middle – that is, the optimal spacing of rows and tables in terms of cleaning the modules.
As with any such assignment, the most important thing is to coordinate the various parts of the task. Properly scheduled work, ensuring water supply, we had it all under control in view of which we only had to go in and start cleaning.
However, as Marshall’s Law says – something can always go wrong. Despite checking the area, this happened this time as well. According to weather reports and soil conditions, heavy rains fell in the Ostroleka area a few days earlier. We drove our car with a full mauser into the farm area and … We buried ourselves!
Mud, mud … 3, 2, 1 and we pulled out!
The “combat” experience of our driver allowed the team to control the situation. Admittedly, it took about an hour, if not more, but the gentlemen made it!
